The beauty of curves

Another week passed in a flash and I hardly manage to read all the blogs that I follow let alone blog myself..really sorry about that. This one will be a real quickie since I should've been in bed long time ago..

This is Cove Sofa from Vioski. The moment I saw it on Design Milk I fell in love. There is something about the gentle curve and the simplicity which makes it so very special.

I think this shows the important difference between good design and great one - it just grasps you and doesn't let you go, don't you think?

sneaky pics

Today I'm sharing a couple of interiors I saw in the lovely blog JPM design authored by Mary Jackson who is an interior designer and stylist from North Carolina.

This is my favourite one, it's so fresh! I love the way the rug defines the colour scheme and provides visual interest at the same time.

This is a bit too busy for my taste but otherwise I like every detail separately!

I am normally and all-matte type of girl and I will always prefer it to, but I do admit that the glossy walls in the last two photos caught my attention.. in the good way. I'm still not sure about the look of the real space, but the gloss definitely gives a nice mood to the photos.

100% Brit

What a week. I had my first 5 days in my new course (2nd year Interior design in Kingston University)and we had quite a start! 2 hours after our first lecture on Monday we were in the Royal Festival Hall having a guided tour and a lecture from the very architects who did the refurbishment of the building. We've been making a model of the building ever since (and it's quite a building, you know)
So now, exactly one week after I visited 100% Design I have time to research all the studios I noted when I was there (6 pages!). Before I start showing my faves, I have to say that I loved the show (even though it had a strict no photography policy and I had to write down every studio I liked). It really had everything for everyone, from high-end sleek modern furniture and accessories to handmade lampshades and ceramics. I also attended a couple of lectures which were quite helpful and I tasted a "magic fruit" which makes acids taste like sweet! You can't imagine how much we loved limes at that moment!
Back to the exhibitors - even though I quite liked the international 100% design stalls (100% France, Spain, Italy, Norway, Argentina, Korea) as I was researching my list with names it turned out that I gathered my small 100% British selection! Here are some of the faves..

Pinch

I had browsed their website before but seeing the real thing is always better!

Pendal 2 seat sofa

Pendal armchair

Wave sideboard

I am sorry for the tiny last picture, but I wanted to show their Twig wall panel in an interior setting, the difference it worth it.

Love seat for two - gotta love the concept!

Alp

Alp is actually led by the swiss-born architect Annick L Petersen, but they are based in London, so I guess that partially fits the title..

Alp rug

That's it for now! Hope you liked my peek in this year's 100% Design show. I gotta go and read Interior architecture books for my course.. see you!

teal + red

I saw these photos a couple of days ago and they've been stuck in my mind ever since. As I recently mentioned I'm mad about all things teal/turquoise so when I saw this photoshoot from photographer Nagi Sakai I was blown away. I absolutely love the colour corrections! I think the over-saturated lips look amazing against the teal/blue background. Ok, I think now you want to finally see the photos. Here they are:

Young blood

Here are some photos from the beautiful portfolio of 23-years old Mexican photographer Cecy Young. I find it really inspirational to see work of this quality produced by talented young artists (Cecy is only 3 years older than me!) So please, do enjoy these photos:

delicate

This evening was a real blog delight. I found some lovely blogs through craftgawker and I gathered quite a lot of beautiful things to share in the following days. But now, since it's almost midnight on a Friday, I'm wrapping up the week with some beautiful and delicate photos to inspire your weekend.

This morning London is experiencing the "typical English" weather so I'm looking at some bright and airy spaces to contrast the gray clouds outside.
